Successful first stage at Holly Cross ATFS Energisation

On the weekend of 18th-19th October, Enable Power Systems, alongside our supply chain partners, completed Stage 1 commissioning of a new 25kV auto transformer feeder site (ATFS) at Holly Cross, Bramley.⁣

This complex task involved collaboration with National Grid teams to energise the new Holly Cross 25kV grid intake substation, fed through the Bramley 400kV substation. Key achievements in this phase included:⁣

• 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐫𝐢𝐝 & 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞: 400kV to 25kV HV cables, switchgear, protection schemes, ABB SMOS switchgear, and 2 autotransformers. ⁣

• 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐒𝐨𝐚𝐤 𝐓𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠: Rigorous testing ensured all equipment met high safety and compliance standards without impacting Network Rail’s operations.⁣

With Stage 1 completed and the site de-energised, we’re ready to enter Stage 2 with short circuit testing scheduled for early November.⁣
